HTC U12+ is the 2018 flagship of the Taiwanese brand with Edge Sense 2 squeezable feature. On the other hand, Huawei P20 Pro is the world’s first triple Leica cameras smartphone. Which device features the best specifications? Let’s compare the specs of HTC U12+ and Huawei P20 Pro.

HTC U12+ aka HTC U12 Plus features a 6-inches Super LCD 6 display with 2880 x 1440 pixels and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Display’s notch is trendy but HTC excludes it from this flagship. This flagship smartphone is powered by 64-bit Snapdragon 845 SDM845 octa-core processor with Adreno 630 GPU. The U12+ is available in two variants – 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM and 6GB RAM + 256GB ROM. The device supports further storage expansion through microSD. HTC U12+ doesn’t have 3.5mm audio jack as USB Type-C audio has replaced it.

HTC U12+ has a dual camera module on the back – 12MP HTC UltraPixel camera (f/1.8 aperture) + 16MP telephoto camera (f/2.6 aperture). Other key camera features such as dual tone LED flash, PDAF, OIS, laser focus, UltraSpeed auto focus 2.0, Raw mode and etc. Meanwhile the front-facing camera is a combination of two 8MP cameras. The operating system is Sense UI based on Android 8.0 Oreo. Apart from the fingerprint sensor on the rear panel, the HTC U12+ also comes with Face Unlock feature. The battery is a 3,500mAh battery with QC3.0. One of main selling points of this device is the Edge Sense 2 that allow users to squeeze the device for application access.

Huawei P20 Pro features a 6.1-inches 2.5D OLED FullView display with 1080 x 2244 pixels and it has top notch that similar to the iPhone X. This flagship smartphone is powered by 64-bit Hisilicon Kirin 970 octa-core processor with i7co-processor and Mali G72 MP12 GPU. P20 Pro is available in only one variant – 6GB RAM and 128GB ROM. Unfortunately, there is no microSD slot for storage expansion. The Huawei P20 Pro is another flagship without 3.5mm audio jack and users are able to listen to the music through 3.5mm to USB type-C adapter. The ever-changing colors on the back thanks to several layers of NCVM optical coatings underneath the glass back and will create vivid and yet gradual change of hue when the light hitting the surface.

Huawei P20 Pro boasts the world’s first Triple Leica Camera on the back – 40 MP (RGB, f/1.8 aperture) + 20 MP (Monochrome, f/1.6 aperture) + 8 MP (Telephoto, f/2.4 aperture). Other key camera features such as Leica VARIO-SUMMILUX-H lenses, dual ISP, AI Image Stablization, dual-tone LED flash, laser focus, deep focus, PDAF, CAF, 960fps super slo-mo, 5X Hybrid Zoom, AI Image Stabilization and 4K video recording. Meanwhile the front-facing camera is also a 24MP with f/2.0 aperture. The operating system of P20 Pro is EMUI 5.1 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo. Apart from the fingerprint sensor on home button, it also supports face recognition to unlock the phone. The battery is a 4,000mAh battery with SuperCharge. Huawei also packs the P20 Pro with music features such as HiFi audio with HWA, Stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos.
