OnePlus 5 is no longer the flagship killer in 2017 as it turned out to be a copycat of iPhone 7 Plus. Meanwhile Sony Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact are the flagship devices from Sony for the second half of 2016. Which device features the best specifications? Let’s compare the specs of OnePlus 5, Sony Xperia XZ and Sony Xperia X Compact.

OnePlus 5 features a 5.5-inches AMOLED with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution (FHD). This flagship smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 835 MSM8998 octa-core processor, which consists of two sets of quad-core processor based on Kyro 280 and Adreno 540 GPU. 8GB RAM is the trend for 2017 and OnePlus has jumped onto the bandwagon as the OnePlus 5 comes with 8GB RAM alongside 128GB of internal storage. There is no microSD slot for OnePlus 5, which is similar to its predecessors.

The rear-facing camera of OnePlus 5 is a dual camera module, which consists of 16MP wide angle shooter (f/1.7 aperture, EIS) and 20MP telephoto shooter (f/2.6 aperture). Meanwhile, the camera features are such as Pro Mode and RAW image. The front-facing camera of OP 5 is an improved 16-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture and EIS. The OS is OxygenOS on top of Android 7.1 Nougat and the OS has been redefined with new features such as Gaming DND Mode, Reading mode and Secure Box. The battery is a 3,300mAh built-in battery and supports DASH Charge. Lastly, the fingerprint sensor is still on the front panel.

Sony Xperia XZ features a 5.2-inches IPS LCD display with FHD resolution. It is powered by 64-bit Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor and 3GB of RAM memory. The device is available in two storage options – 32GB and 64GB. There is a microSD slot for storage expansion as well.

The rear-facing camera of Xperia XZ is a 23-megapixel shooter with LED flash, Exmor RS sensor, 1/2.3″ sensor, f/2.0 lens, Predictive Hybrid AF, 5-axis stabilization and 4K video recording. On the other hand, another camera on the front is a 13-megapixel with 1/3” Exmor RS sensor, 22mm wide-angle f/2.0 lens and 1080p video recording. The operating system of Xperia XZ is Xperia UI on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow and the battery is a 2,900mAh built-in battery. Aside from the water/dust resistant, its fingerprint sensor is on the power button, which is rather unique.

Sony Xperia XZ is available in single-SIM and dual-SIM versions. Sony Xperia XZ is also the first Sony smartphone to come with USB type-C port instead of the traditional micro USB.

Sony Xperia X Compact features a 4.6-inches IPS LCD display with HD resolution. It is powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 650 MSM8956 hexa-core processor, which consists of two Cortex A72 cores, four Cortex A53 cores and Adreno 510 GPU as well as 3GB of RAM memory. The internal storage is 32GB and there is a microSD slot for storage expansion as well.

The rear-facing camera of Xperia X Compact is a LED flash, Exmor RS sensor, 1/2.3″ sensor, f/2.0 lens, Predictive Hybrid AF, 5-axis stabilization and 4K video recording. On the other hand, another camera on the front is a 5-megapixel with 1/3.06″ Exmor RS sensor, 22mm wide-angle f/2.0 lens and 1080p video recording. The operating system of Xperia X Compact is Xperia UI on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow and the battery is a 2,700mAh built-in battery. Aside from the water/dust resistant, its fingerprint sensor is on the power button, which is rather unique.

Sony Xperia X Compact is also the first Sony smartphone to come with USB type-C port instead of the traditional micro USB.
