OnePlus 5 is no longer the flagship killer in 2017 as it turned out to be a copycat of iPhone 7 Plus. Meanwhile Samsung Galaxy S8 is the first flagship from Samsung with Infinity Display. Which device features the best specifications? Let’s compare the specs of OnePlus 5 and Samsung Galaxy S8.
OnePlus 5 features a 5.5-inches AMOLED with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution (FHD). This flagship smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 835 MSM8998 octa-core processor, which consists of two sets of quad-core processor based on Kyro 280 and Adreno 540 GPU. 8GB RAM is the trend for 2017 and OnePlus has jumped onto the bandwagon as the OnePlus 5 comes with 8GB RAM alongside 128GB of internal storage. There is no microSD slot for OnePlus 5, which is similar to its predecessors.
The rear-facing camera of OnePlus 5 is a dual camera module, which consists of 16MP wide angle shooter (f/1.7 aperture, EIS) and 20MP telephoto shooter (f/2.6 aperture). Meanwhile, the camera features are such as Pro Mode and RAW image. The front-facing camera of OP 5 is an improved 16-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture and EIS. The OS is OxygenOS on top of Android 7.1 Nougat and the OS has been redefined with new features such as Gaming DND Mode, Reading mode and Secure Box. The battery is a 3,300mAh built-in battery and supports DASH Charge. Lastly, the fingerprint sensor is still on the front panel.
Samsung Galaxy S8 features a 5.8-inches Infinity Display with Quad HD+ resolution. This flagship smartphone has two different processors as the US version is powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 835 MSM8998 processor while EMEA regions will get 64-bit Exynos 8895 processor instead. Galaxy S8 is available in 4GB RAM only while the internal storage is 64GB only. Of course, it has a microSD slot too.
Samsung Galaxy S8 has a 12-megapixel Dual Pixel camera, which consists of LED flash, f/1.7 aperture, PDAF, OIS while the front-facing camera is an 8-megapixel with f/1.7 aperture too. Honestly, its rather surprise that the S8 doesn’t feature dual module camera. It is pre-installed with TouchWiz UI on top of Android 7.0 Nougat. For the battery, it comes with a 3,000mAh battery and supports Quick Charge. Another surprise feature is the fingerprint sensor as Samsung has moved it to the back panel rather than the original home button position. In addition, the device also boasts Ultra High Quality Audio Playback as well as IP68 standard of water and dust resistant.
