OnePlus 5 is no longer the flagship killer in 2017 as it turned out to be a copycat of iPhone 7 Plus. Meanwhile Essential Phone PH-1 is the first phone from Android founder Andy Rubin. Which device features the best specifications? Let’s compare the specs of OnePlus 5 and Essential Phone.

OnePlus 5 features a 5.5-inches AMOLED with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution (FHD). This flagship smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 835 MSM8998 octa-core processor, which consists of two sets of quad-core processor based on Kyro 280 and Adreno 540 GPU. 8GB RAM is the trend for 2017 and OnePlus has jumped onto the bandwagon as the OnePlus 5 comes with 8GB RAM alongside 128GB of internal storage. There is no microSD slot for OnePlus 5, which is similar to its predecessors.

The rear-facing camera of OnePlus 5 is a dual camera module, which consists of 16MP wide angle shooter (f/1.7 aperture, EIS) and 20MP telephoto shooter (f/2.6 aperture). Meanwhile, the camera features are such as Pro Mode and RAW image. The front-facing camera of OP 5 is an improved 16-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture and EIS. The OS is OxygenOS on top of Android 7.1 Nougat and the OS has been redefined with new features such as Gaming DND Mode, Reading mode and Secure Box. The battery is a 3,300mAh built-in battery and supports DASH Charge. Lastly, the fingerprint sensor is still on the front panel.

Essential Phone PH-1 features a 5.71-inches bezel-less display with 2560 x 1312 pixel resolution (Quad HD). This smartphone by the Android founder is powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 835 MSM8998 octa-core processor, which consists of two sets of quad-core processor based on Kyro 280 and Adreno 540 GPU. The RAM memory of Essential Phone is 4GB and the internal storage is 128GB. Unfortunately, there is no microSD slot for storage expansion.

The Essential Phone PH-1 has a dual camera module on the back, which consists of 13MP (monochrome) + 13MP (RGB), dual tone LED flash, f/1.85 aperture while the front-facing camera is an 8-megapixel shooter. It is pre-installed with Android 7.1 Nougat. The battery of Essential Phone PH-1 is a 3,040mAh built-in battery that supports Quick Charge. The fingerprint sensor of Essential Phone is rear mounted. The colors available are – Stellar Gray, Ocean Depths, Black Moon and Pure White.
