Don’t know how to dispose your old devices? Well. Xiaomi has introduced its own e-waste take back and recycling program.
The Mi India Product Take-Back and Recycling Program follows the E-waste (Management) Rules in 2016 issued by the Ministry of Environment and Forest in India. The e-waste management programs are offered by TES-AMM India as the company will pick up e-waste from you within 15 days, after you fill the e-waste take back form.
Another method is to drop e-waste at any of Xiaomi’s service centers within India. Xiaomi is also offering a discount coupon worth Rs. 100 for every pickup request of phones to your Mi account once your phone(s) is successfully picked up. Xiaomi stated that “To act responsibly towards the environment, we have pledged to recycle electronic items, such as mobiles, power banks, speakers, headphones, etc. that are intended to be discarded as waste by the consumer. When an electronic product reaches the end of its life, we take it back and recycle it.,”.
Some more might think that it is easier to throw the devices with the rubbish since they are no longer function. However, devices have different components that will require different recycle methods. Hence, it is important to recycle those unused devices accordingly.
