Finally Oppo has overtook Samsung in the first quarter of 2017 as its Oppo R9S became the third best selling smartphone in the world, behind iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
According to the latest data from Strategy Analytics, the best selling smartphone in first quarter of 2017 for the global market is iPhone 7 as Apple shipped 21.5 million units in that period of time while iPhone 7 Plus with 17.4 million units in the second place.
Surprisingly, Oppo R9S recorded 8.9 million units in the first quarter of 2017 alone and it ranked at the third position. Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) recorded 6.1 million units and Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) recorded 5 million units. The aforementioned devices are the top 5 best selling smartphones for the first quarter of 2017 in the global market.
As a result, the iPhone 7 has 6.1 percent of market share followed by iPhone 7 Plus 4.9 percent, Oppo R9S with 2.5 percent, Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) with 1.7 percent and J5 (2016) with 1.4%. In another words, none of the high end flagships from Samsung that contributed to the top 5 market share above while Apple continues to stellar in the market.
