Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus is the larger sibling of S8 as both feature the new Infinity Display. On the other hand, Sony Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact are the flagship devices from Sony for the second half of 2016. Which device features the best specifications? Let’s compare the specs of Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus, Sony Xperia XZ and Sony Xperia X Compact.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus features a 6.2-inches Infinity Display with Quad HD+ resolution. This flagship smartphone has two different processors as the US version is powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 835 MSM8998 processor while EMEA regions will get 64-bit Exynos 8895 processor instead. S8 Plus is available in 4GB and 6GB RAM options while the internal storage options are 64GB and 128GB. Of course, it has a microSD slot too.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus has a 12-megapixel Dual Pixel camera, which consists of LED flash, f/1.7 aperture, PDAF, OIS while the front-facing camera is an 8-megapixel with f/1.7 aperture too. Honestly, its rather surprise that the S8 Plus doesn’t feature dual module camera. It is pre-installed with TouchWiz UI on top of Android 7.0 Nougat. For the battery, it comes with a 3,500mAh battery and supports Quick Charge. Another surprise feature is the fingerprint sensor as Samsung has moved it to the back panel rather than the original home button position. In addition, the device also boasts Ultra High Quality Audio Playback as well as IP68 standard of water and dust resistant.

Sony Xperia XZ features a 5.2-inches IPS LCD display with FHD resolution. It is powered by 64-bit Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor and 3GB of RAM memory. The device is available in two storage options – 32GB and 64GB. There is a microSD slot for storage expansion as well.

The rear-facing camera of Xperia XZ is a 23-megapixel shooter with LED flash, Exmor RS sensor, 1/2.3″ sensor, f/2.0 lens, Predictive Hybrid AF, 5-axis stabilization and 4K video recording. On the other hand, another camera on the front is a 13-megapixel with 1/3” Exmor RS sensor, 22mm wide-angle f/2.0 lens and 1080p video recording. The operating system of Xperia XZ is Xperia UI on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow and the battery is a 2,900mAh built-in battery. Aside from the water/dust resistant, its fingerprint sensor is on the power button, which is rather unique.

Sony Xperia XZ is available in single-SIM and dual-SIM versions. Sony Xperia XZ is also the first Sony smartphone to come with USB type-C port instead of the traditional micro USB.

Sony Xperia X Compact features a 4.6-inches IPS LCD display with HD resolution. It is powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 650 MSM8956 hexa-core processor, which consists of two Cortex A72 cores, four Cortex A53 cores and Adreno 510 GPU as well as 3GB of RAM memory. The internal storage is 32GB and there is a microSD slot for storage expansion as well.

The rear-facing camera of Xperia X Compact is a LED flash, Exmor RS sensor, 1/2.3″ sensor, f/2.0 lens, Predictive Hybrid AF, 5-axis stabilization and 4K video recording. On the other hand, another camera on the front is a 5-megapixel with 1/3.06″ Exmor RS sensor, 22mm wide-angle f/2.0 lens and 1080p video recording. The operating system of Xperia X Compact is Xperia UI on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow and the battery is a 2,700mAh built-in battery. Aside from the water/dust resistant, its fingerprint sensor is on the power button, which is rather unique.

Sony Xperia X Compact is also the first Sony smartphone to come with USB type-C port instead of the traditional micro USB.
