Taiwanese brand Asus has officially announced its smartphone at the CES 2017 – Asus Zenfone AR (ZS571KL). It is the World’s First 8GB smartphone and also supports Tango AR and Daydream VR platforms.
Asus Zenfone AR features a 5.7-inches Super AMOLED touchscreen display with 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution (Quad HD) and Gorilla Glass 4 protection, which is more than sufficient for daily usage. The 5.7-inches display fits into the dimensions that measure at 158.67 x 77.7 x 4.6 ~ 8.95mm and weights at 170g.
For performance-wise, it is powered by Snapdragon 821 alongside 6GB of RAM memory. The internal storage of Asus Zenfone AR starts from 32GB and you don’t have to worry about storage because it also supports external storage expansion through microSD card.
This 5.7-inches device has a 23-megapixel Sony IMX318 camera on the back with dual-tone LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, 6p lens, 4-axis OIS, 3-axis EIS, PDAF, Laser Auto Focus alongside an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for both selfie and video calls. With the supportive LED flash, users are able to capture brighter photos during the night and under low light conditions. Furthermore, the LED flash is can be used as a flash light as well.
Regarding its network support, Asus Zenfone AR is compatible with multiple LTE network bands and supports dual SIM, hence users are able to insert two SIM cards together. Other key features/specs are USB OTG (TBC), 3.5mm audio jack, multiple sensors, Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, as well as a USB Type-C port instead of micro USB.
Zen UI 3.0 based on Android 7.0 Nougat version is the operating system of Asus Zenfone AR. As for the battery, it does come with 3,300mAh of battery juice (non-removable and Quick Charge 3.0).
Asus Zenfone AR has a fingerprint sensor, which embedded onto the home button. This Nougat flavoured smartphone is available in Charcoal Black color with leather finish and will roll out starting from second quarter. Apart from the 6GB RAM, the Zenfone AR is the first smartphone with 8GB RAM and also available in storage options of 64GB, 128GB and 256GB.
For the AR and VR support, Tango is an augmented reality (AR) platform that combines camera, gyroscope, and accelerometer to estimate six degree of freedom motion tracking, providing you the ability to track 3D motion of a device while simultaneously creating a map of the environment. On the other hand, Google’s Daydream is a virtual reality (VR) platform built into Android 7.0 Nougat and above.
