The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 was announced about a year ago and the Chinese company is ready to introduce a new variant that based on the Mate 7 smartphone. The device is said to feature a smaller display than the Mate 7.
Sources from China claimed that Huawei will unveil a new variant of Mate 7 by the name of Mate 7 Mini due to its smaller size. However, other sources claimed that the new variant will come with the name of Mate 7 Plus instead of Mate 7 Mini.
The new variant of Mate 7 is said to come with a 5.7-inch 1080p display, 64-bit Hisilicon Kirin 935 octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM memory, 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with Sony IMX278 Exmor RS image sensor and EMUI based on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
From our view, the Mate 7 Plus is a better name than the Mate 7 Mini. The “Mini” variant is no longer a popular name after manufacturers chose to use alternative words such as Plus and Company or with alphabet as suffix. Furthermore, the Chinese brand has dumped the Ascend branding since the Huawei P8 and the new series is simply known as Mate series.
