The Hisilicon Kirin processors of Huawei are not on par with leading processors from Qualcomm and Intel. In order to compete with the big players, the next gen Hisilicon Kirin 950 has been leaked in China.
Several Chinese website have posted the alleged spec sheet of Hisilicon Kirin 950 as above. The spec sheet clearly listed out that the Hisilicon Kirin 950 processor is based on quad-core Cortex A53 and quad-core Cortex A72. In other words, the Kirin 950 is still an octa-core processor after all.
The Kirin 950 is said to have a Mali T880 GPU and supports dual channel LPDDR4 RAM. Other specs of Kirin 950 are Tensilica HiFi 4 DSP, dual ISP (42MP), Native 10bit 4K main10 HEVC & VP9 -De & encoding, i7 Co-Processor (sensor hub+connectivity+security), UFS 2.0, eMMC 5.1, SD 4.1, Dual-SIM (LTE Cat. 10), Bluetooth 4.2 Smart, USB 3.0 and NFC. Lastly, the spec sheet revealed that Huawei will introduce this powerful processor in third or fourth quarter later this year.
The Huawei P8 and Huawei Honor 7 are powered by the Kirin 935 processor. If the spec sheet above is correct, then the Kirin 950 could make its debut in Huawei Mate 8 later this year. It is also possible that Huawei has abandoned the Kirin 940 and Kirin 945 in order to compete with Snapdragon 820 processor from Qualcomm.
Stay tuned for more updates on Kirin 950 processor.
