LG Nexus 5 Benchmark Tests: BaseMark

After receiving the LG Nexus 5, the latest Nexus smartphone was put to the benchmark tests. AnTuTu 4.0, Vellamo, Quadrant and 3DMark are the multiple benchmark tests that will show the real potential of the device. Surprisingly, a few benchmark scores of the LG Nexus 5 are lower than other devices with lower specs.

The first is AnTuTu Benchmark. LG Nexus 5 scores only 16,720 points on AnTuTu 4.0. The score of LG Nexus 5 is even lower than older devices like LG Nexus 4, Samsung Galaxy S3, Sony Xperia Z and Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The tester pointed out that the processors in the LG Nexus 5 are running at full throttle during the benchmark test.

The second is Quadrant Standard benchmark test. LG Nexus 5 scores only 5048 points. The fifth generation is only higher than the HTC One X a little bit. The HTC One X is powered by the Tegra 3 processor.

The third is Vellamo Benchmark test. LG Nexus 5 scores only 1185 points on HTML5 while Metal is only 1063 points. The LG Nexus 5 is far behind Samsung Galaxy Nexus, LG Nexus 4 and Samsung Galaxy Grand on the HTML5 test while it is ahead of Samsung Galaxy S4 with Snapdragon 600 on the Metal test. The results are weird.

The fourth is 3DMark benchmark test. The LG Nexus 5 has maxed out the scores on ICE STORM SCORE and ICE STORM EXTREME SCORE while the ICE STORM UNLIMITED score is 13407 points. The Nexus device is on par with most of the Snapdragon 800-powered devices in the market.

The fifth is NenaMark2 benchmark test. LG Nexus 5 scores 59.9fps on NenaMark2 which is almost maximum.

Lastly, the BaseMark 2.0 benchmark test. LG Nexus 5 scores 59.85 points. The performance of the LG Nexus 5 is near to the maximum score and on par with other Snapdragon 800-powered devices in the market.

Note: Several benchmark results of the LG Nexus 5 hinted that the Android 4.4 KitKat is still new to the benchmark applications in the market. We may need to retest again in the future to find out the true performance of the LG Nexus 5. In addition, the device was tested in Taiwan.

    Great comparison and Benchmark scores. I can not wait to get my hands on Nexus 5, I am really exited about it :)

  • GrebGoneBad

    Quite supprised that some of the scores are below expectations, although as has been poitned out, a future KitKat update will probably help out in this respect. It’s the same with any new OS version release. Theres bound to be discrepancies here and there. Well impressed with the 3D mark score though. WHen I get my Nexus 5 it will be a far cry from my current S3. =)

      Hi, we expect the Nexus 5 to have higher points in the future.

  • Jonnyw2k

      Hi mate, the device was tested in Taiwan. Good to see ur screenshot. How about AnTuTu?

      • Duncan Booth

        With AnTuTu it got 18471, so between the Google Nexus 10 and the Samsung Galaxy S3. Slightly higher than the results here but not by much.

          I’ve tried a few times with my S4 and Note 3. Everytime with different results as well. I still believing the benchmark is just some sort of guide rather than competing with other devices in the market.

    I get 26K+ in my antutu benchmark…ART enabled…stock ROM.

        https://db.tt/8vLTdle3 That is my screenshot for Antutu on a Nexus 5.

  • Sean

    I get…
    Quadrant = 12700
    Antutu = 27000
    …on an ART Enabled Nexus 5.

    • http://GSMinsider.com/ Mark Collins

      It seems like most of the people are getting points on that range.

    • Tudor

      I went to XDA Developers forum to the Trinity Kenrel thread. Guess what, 37000 (yeah, 37000) points on Antutu with an overclock of 2400 MHz.

      • Sean

        Blimey….thats impressive. I have never rooted a phone and am a bit worried about bricking it. There is a mod available to improve the camera focus speed which I may consider if Google do not update the software.

        • klaus der gabelstaplerfahrer

          it’s really difficult to brick it :D nexus phones can be recovered easier then most of the other phones

  • Michael Frencken

    No Comparison between Samsung and Nexus in Benchmark because Samsung uses Cheats to get good results

  • pradhyu89

    Here is my score on antutu
    I’m on unitado v1.0 ROM with latest chaos kernal.with its default settings….
