In the past, many people describing the XiaoMi Tech as the Apple of China. The device style, the keynote and even the style of the CEO is similar to the late Steve Jobs. XiaoMi has reached the stardom since the last year as its brand is one of the most popular in China as well as the international market. Recently, XiaoMi CEO Lei Jun was interviewed by Reuters.

Lei Jun has his own views regarding the “Apple of China” label. “Xiaomi looks a bit like Apple but is really more like Amazon with some elements of Google,” Lei said in an interview with Reuters in Beijing, dressed in a blue shirt, blue jeans and brown shoes.

“The mobile phone is only the carrier,” Lei said. “Microsoft used to sell Windows in a box with a CD in it. Does that make Microsoft a paper box company?” “Xiaomi selling mobile phones is like Amazon selling Kindles,” he added.

XiaoMi becomes the third largest electronic product company in China but it’s still far behind Tencent, Sina and Alibaba. It’s a tough battle ahead for Lei Jun in the largest smartphone market as well as the toughest market after all.
